What can you do to counteract?
Do you sit in an office chair, sofa or car for more than six hours a day?
Probably the answer is YES.
It is well documented that staying static for extended periods of time can lead to a loss of mobility, but more disturbing, to a higher risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer. Sounds bad right? The good news is that it’s very easy to counteract no matter how busy you are and without totally changing your lifestyle.
What should you do?
Stand up once every hour. Walk around the office, try to talk to people instead of sending e-mails, anything you can do to interrupt your sitting as much as possible.
When sitting for a while try to keep your chest in front of your chin and when you stand think of lengthening the distance between the rib cage and the pelvis.
Get at least 1 hour exercise three times as week.
